On 11th December 2025, Her Excellency Mrs. Genevieve Edna Apaloo, Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to Japan, received Dr. Koichi Wakata, Ph.D., Astronaut and Chief Technology Officer of Axiom Space, at the Chancery of the Embassy in Tokyo. The meeting was held as a courtesy call and provided an opportunity to discuss potential areas of cooperation between Ghana and Axiom Space in the field of space science and technology. During the engagement, Dr. Wakata briefed the Ambassador on the activities of Axiom Space, including developments in human spaceflight, scientific experimentation, and the transition towards the Axiom Space Station. He expressed interest in expanding engagement with Africa and highlighted opportunities for collaboration in education, capacity building, and STEM development. Her Excellency Apaloo welcomed the engagement and underscored Ghana’s interest in leveraging space science and innovation to inspire youth and support national development. The Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to continued dialogue and collaboration with Axiom Space, with a view to advancing practical cooperation in space-related education, research, and technology, and strengthening Ghana’s participation in emerging global space initiatives.
