The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ghana to Japan, H.E. Mrs. Genevieve Edna Apaloo, paid a courtesy call on the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Dr. Kunimitsu Ayano, on 24th December 2025. During the meeting, State Minister Kunimitsu expressed Japan’s strong interest in further deepening Japan–Ghana relations. She highlighted plans for the dispatch of a public-private joint mission to Ghana scheduled for January 2026 and shared personal reflections on her visit to Ghana during her time as a medical student. Ambassador Apaloo conveyed her appreciation for Japan’s continued support and cooperation with Ghana over the years. She reaffirmed her commitment to working closely with the Japanese authorities to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. Both sides agreed on the importance of enhancing cooperation across various sectors in the lead-up to the commemorative year 2027, which will mark the 100th anniversary of Dr. Noguchi Hideyo’s stay in Ghana, the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ghana and Japan, and the 50th anniversary of the dispatch of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers ( JOCV) to The meeting underscored the shared commitment of both countries to advancing long-standing friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation.
