The Government of the Republic of Ghana has appointed Mr. Humphrey C. Ajongbah as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Japan following his commissioning by H.E. President John Dramani Mahama at Jubilee House on Wednesday, 13th May 2026. Mr. Ajongbah previously served as Head of Chancery at the Ghana Embassy in Brasília, where he played a key role in advancing Ghana’s diplomatic and administrative objectives. His appointment is expected to further strengthen the longstanding relations between Ghana and Japan, particularly in the areas of trade, industrial cooperation, technology transfer, education, infrastructure development, and cultural exchange. The announcement has been warmly received within diplomatic circles and among members of the Ghanaian community. Colleagues and stakeholders have acknowledged his professionalism, institutional discipline, and commitment to public service throughout his diplomatic career. As a seasoned career diplomat with extensive experience in bilateral and multilateral engagements, Ambassador-designate Ajongbah is expected to support ongoing efforts aimed at deepening cooperation between Ghana and Japan and expanding opportunities for partnership and investment.
