GHANA EMBASSY IN JAPAN FACILITATES $100 MILLION INVESTMENT IN AI-DRIVEN AGRICULTURE

Dec 31-2025

The Embassy of Ghana in Japan is pleased to announce a major milestone in its investment promotion efforts. Through sustained diplomatic engagement and strategic outreach, the Embassy has facilitated a landmark $100 million investment commitment from Degas Limited, a Japanese agri-tech firm, to support Ghana’s agricultural transformation agenda. The announcement was made during a meeting between Mr. Doga Makiura, CEO and Founder of Degas Limited, and Ghanaian officials on the sidelines of ongoing engagements in Yokohama. The investment, to be rolled out over the next four years, will position Ghana as a regional hub for AI-powered agriculture. Degas has already demonstrated strong impact in Ghana by financing over 86,000 smallholder farmers across 122,000 acres of farmland, achieving a 95% repayment rate and helping to double household incomes. The company’s approach combines satellite imaging, precision agriculture, and data-driven value chain support—from input distribution to market access. This partnership aligns directly with Ghana’s national priorities to: Modernize agriculture using emerging technologies; Enhance food security and climate resilience; Create sustainable jobs for young people in rural communities; And strengthen agro-industrial linkages under the Resetting Ghana Agenda. The Embassy of Ghana in Japan views this investment as a strong vote of confidence in Ghana’s agricultural sector and the government’s commitment to technology-enabled development. The Embassy will continue to serve as a proactive bridge between Japanese innovation and Ghana’s growth agenda.
