GHANA POSITIONS ITSELF AS A GATEWAY TO AFRICA AT AFRICA–SINGAPORE BUSINESS FORUM

Dec 31-2025

The Embassy of Ghana in Japan is pleased to report on the participation of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama in the 8th Africa–Singapore Business Forum, where he delivered the opening keynote address during his official State Visit to Singapore. President Mahama used the occasion to position Ghana as a trusted launchpad for investment into Africa, citing the country’s strategic location, political stability, and strong commitment to regional integration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). In his remarks, President Mahama outlined Ghana’s vision as a 24-hour economy built around four integrated pillars: Grow24: Irrigated agriculture across 2 million hectares; Make24: Agro-industrial parks for processing and manufacturing; Show24: Tourism and cultural assets along Lake Volta; Connect24: Transport and logistics development via inland waterways. He noted that Ghana is not only open for business but actively implementing reforms to attract long-term capital, with improving macroeconomic indicators, inflation down to ~13%, and investor guidance tools now available through the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre. President Mahama described Africa and Asia as natural partners and called for deeper South–South cooperation, especially in finance, logistics, and technology. He welcomed Singapore’s role in project finance, risk management, and digital innovation as catalytic for Ghana and the continent. He also urged collective efforts to reform the global financial architecture, citing Africa’s $1.3 trillion financing gap and the need for homegrown solutions backed by credible, long-term partnerships. Ghana’s bilateral trade with Singapore reached $215 million in 2024, with 69 Singaporean companies already operating in Ghana, and cumulative investments exceeding $2 billion. The Embassy commends President Mahama’s strategic presentation of Ghana’s investment potential and reaffirms its commitment to translating this momentum into impactful business partnerships.
