GHANAIAN ASSOCIATION INAUGURATED IN CHIBA, JAPAN
On 6TH April 2025, the Ghanaian community in Chiba officially launched the Ghanaian Association–Chiba (GAC) at a well-attended event marked by unity, remembrance, and shared purpose. The Embassy of Ghana in Tokyo, represented by Mr. Daniel Okaiteye, Deputy Head of Mission, praised the association’s formation as a vital step in organizing and empowering the diaspora. Mr. Okaiteye urged members to see themselves as part of a broader Ghanaian movement across Japan. He emphasized that structured, recognized associations like GAC are the key to unlocking benefits such as embassy support, welfare access, and future government services. “None of these can reach individuals in isolation,” he said. “Belonging to an active, accountable association is the bridge to that support.” The association’s creation was inspired by the passing of Mr. Joseph "Joe" Anokye, whose story became a call for unity. The President, Pastor Victor Yeboah, reflected on Joe’s legacy and the community's resolve to never leave a fellow Ghanaian behind again. The event featured powerful remarks from Ugandan dignitaries, a heartfelt speech by Chairman Dr. Peter Owans, and a successful fundraising drive to support the association’s future efforts. The Ghanaian Association–Chiba is now positioned as a cultural, social, and support hub for Ghanaians in Japan.
