Prime Minister of Japan, H.E. Ms. Takaichi Sanae, held a meeting with the Group of Women Ambassadors in Japan on 15th January 2026, at the Prime Minister’s Office. The meeting brought together 24 female ambassadors, Ambassadors-Designate, and chargées d'affaires ad interim accredited to Japan. During the meeting, Prime Minister Takaichi expressed her deep respect for the work of the Group of Women Ambassadors in promoting women’s participation and diversity. She reaffirmed her determination to demonstrate leadership and tangible results that would help eliminate persistent biases, including the perception that women are not suited for leadership roles. Speaking on behalf of the Group, the Ambassador of Samoa to Japan, H.E. Mrs. Faalavaau Perina Sila-Tualaulelei, the Ambassador of Mexico to Japan, H.E. Ms. Melba Pría, the Ambassador of Bulgaria to Japan, H.E. Mrs. Marieta Arabadjieva de Descalzi, and the Ambassador of Ghana to Japan, H.E. Mrs. Genevieve Edna Apaloo, conveyed their congratulations to Prime Minister Takaichi on her assumption of office. They also expressed confidence in her leadership and underscored the importance of continued partnership with Japan across various fields. Prime Minister Takaichi concluded the meeting by emphasizing her desire to work closely with the international community, including women leaders, to address global challenges. The meeting ended in a warm and cordial atmosphere, reflecting shared values of cooperation, inclusivity, and mutual respect.
